Evan Hadfield is the head guide and owner of Big Brother Backpacking.
Ever since Evan was a boy, he has been entranced by the idea of new places, new sites, and new experiences. Since his birth in Canada, Evan has lived in seven countries on three continents, as well as four U.S. states and four Canadian provinces. He has traveled through over thirty countries: from napping on the the beaches of Bermuda to crossing the sand dunes of Sharm el-Sheik on the back of a camel. He has slept under the stars in Kejimkujik national park and rafted the Colorado river. He has mastered the art of travel work, having been (among other things) an English teacher in Japan, a hotel clerk and organic farmer in Hawai'i, a factory manager in China and a journalist in Latvia.
Most importantly, though, he has backpacked Europe enough to know exactly what all of the problems are, and how to go about solving them before they happen. Evan is currently living in Germany with his lovely wife and happy-go-lucky dog, brushing up on his language skills and looking out for interesting new places to visit.

Andrew Wood is a lead guide and assistant manager of Big Brother Backpacking.
As well as being a decorated camp councillor, Andrew is a certified Canadian high school teacher. A native of Nova Scotia, Andrew has followed the path of a teacher, special needs caretaker, and mentor. When not in the classroom, Andrew is an avid outdoor enthusiast, and spends a great deal of his free time on canoeing, biking and backpacking expeditions.
His adventurous spirit and determination, as well as his work both in and outside of the classroom serve as an example for people of all ages. His vast experiences in hiking, camping, and touring have prepared him for everything that the rigours of backpacking can throw his way, and his history in education services makes him an ideal guide for adolescents. His overflowing knowledge and leadership are key assets in our tours, and we are happy to have him on board.

Katalin Hadfield is the accountant and European liaison for Big Brother Backpacking.
Kata was born in Dunaújváros, Hungary and is Big Brother Backpacking's living connection to all things Europe. Fluent in Hungarian, German and English, she provides the background support and networking for the tour guides, as well as serving as our translator and cultural go-between. If there is ever a problem, she has the answer to it, and is standing by to help fix it. Having lived in Hungary, Hawaii, Germany, Japan, Canada and China, Kata has extensive travel experience both in and outside of Europe and knows as well as anyone what problems can arise from traveling, and how to go about fixing them.
